HOBGOBLIN BURGERS | |
1 1/2 lb. ground beef 6 slices American cheese 6 lettuce leaves 6 hamburger buns, split 1 tomato, cut into 6 slices 3 midget gherkins, cut in half lengthwise 18 sweet pickle slices 12 pimento slices 12 dried apricot halves 12 raisins 3 radishes, cut in half Before you start, have an adult help you slice the tomato and cut radishes in half and then into diamond shapes. Shape beef into 12 patties, each 4 inches round. Place 1 slice of cheese on top of each of the 6 patties. Top cheese with the rest of the patties. Pinch the edges very well to seal. Place on the broiler pan. Ask an adult to help you adjust the oven racks so the surface of the meat is 4 inches from the source of the heat. Ask an adult to help you turn on broiler. Place pan under the broiler and set timer for 4 minutes. Turn hamburgers and set timer for another 4 minutes. Carefully remove pan from the oven (be sure to use hot pads) and place on wire rack. Assemble each hamburger. Place lettuce on top half of buns. Add hamburger, 1 tomato slice and 3 pickle slices. Cover with the bottom of the bun halves. To make the face, use 2 pimento slices for eyebrows, 2 dried apricots and 2 raisins for the eyes. Put radish piece for nose and one gherkin half for the mouth. |
