WINTER WINE STEW 
2 lbs. round steak, cut into chunks
3 tbsp. vegetable oil
1/2 c. dry sherry
2 lg. onions, sliced
1 c. beef stock
2 bay leaves
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. vinegar
3 tbsp. ketchup
1/2 c. raisins

Brown meat, in oil, in a Dutch oven. Remove meat from pan. Pour sherry over the meat and toss lightly. Add onions to the pan drippings and saute briefly. Return meat and sherry to pan and stir in the remaining ingredients. Cover pan and place in a 300 degree oven for 3 to 4 hours. Good served with noodles or rice. Also can be put in a crock pot and simmered all day.
