1 (15 oz.) pkg. M & M's (plain)
1 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour (part wheat if you like)
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Coarsely chop 1 1/2 cups candy and save rest for decorations. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt; mix well. Stir in chopped candy and nuts. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 9 to 11 minutes. Remove from oven and immediately press 3 reserved M & M's into top of each cookie.
