Oreo Cookie Ice Cream Dessert - Recipe

OREO COOKIE ICE CREAM DESSERT

1 (15 oz.) pkg. Oreo cookies
2 sticks butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. evaporated milk
1/2 gal. vanilla ice cream, softened
1 (16 oz.) tub Cool Whip
3 sq. semi sweet Baker's chocolate

FIRST LAYER:

Crush Oreos and place in 9 x 13 pan. Melt one stick of butter; pour over crushed cookie mixture. Mix. Press into bottom of pan to form crust.

SECOND LAYER:

Spread softened ice cream over Oreos and place in freezer to harden.

THIRD LAYER:

Melt one stick of butter and chocolate squares. Add sugar and evaporated milk. Continue stirring until mixture comes to full boil (bubbling). Let mixture cool. Pour mixture over ice cream layer.

FOURTH LAYER:

Spread Cool Whip over chocolate sauce. Top with nuts or Oreo cookie crumbs.

My grandmother used to make this back in the 70's...it is awesome!!! It is also good made with mint chocolate chip ice cream and the oreos, or the Mystic Mint cookies and vanilla ice cream. I have even made it with the oreos and used coffee ice cream...oh the possibilities!!! I bet it would be reaelly good with the original oreos and strawberry ice cream w/ the chocolate sauce!!! This is great for special desserts, or to take to a church dinner, or any occasion really!!
