3 1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. instant coffee
2 c. water
1 fifth vodka
1 vanilla bean or 1 oz. real vanilla extract

Blend sugar, coffee and water. Heat until dissolved. Cool. Pour into half gallon container. Add vodka and vanilla. Age at least 2 weeks.
