LASAGNA | |
1 lb. hamburger 1 onion, sliced 2 tbsp. cooking oil 2 cloves garlic, pressed Red pepper to taste 1 tsp. oregano 2 bay leaves 1 tsp. salt 1 can tomatoes 1 can tomato paste 1 can tomato sauce 1 can mushrooms 4 double or 8 single lasagna noodles 1 1/2 pts. cottage cheese 1 lb. Mozzarella or Cheddar cheese Parmesan cheese Brown meat and onion in oil, breaking up meat. Add seasoning, tomatoes, tomato paste and tomato sauce. Rinse cans with water and add to mixture. Add undrained mushrooms. Simmer for 2 hours. Cook lasagna noodles in boiling salted water for 15 minutes until tender. Pour 1/4 of sauce into a 9x13 inch pan. Add a layer of noodles, half of the cottage cheese and Mozzarella cheese and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Repeat layers, using 1/2 of the remaining sauce and all of the noodles and cheese. Pour remaining sauce over top, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes before cutting into squares. Yields 16 servings. |
