BRER RABBIT MOLASSES COOKIES 
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. dark molasses
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt

Melt shortening in sauce pan over low heat, let cool. Add sugar, molasses and egg, beat well. Sift together flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt. Add to first mixture. Mix well. Chill. Form into one inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar and place on greased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 3 1/2 dozen.

This is the recipie I used in the early 70s. Instead of rolling in sugar, I flatten with a glass dipped in sugar. Enjoy!
