PASTRY SHELL (1 CRUST PIE) 
1 c. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. plus 1 tbsp. shortening
2 to 3 tbsp. cold water or milk

Combine flour and salt. Cut in shortening. Sprinkle with water, 1 tablespoon at a time and toss until dough cleans side of bowl. Shape into ball. Roll out on floured surface to form a circle 1/8 inch thick and 2 inches larger than pie dish. Fold pastry over rolling pin and ease into dish. Trim edges of pastry slightly larger than rim of dish. Build up and flute edges thoroughly prick bottom and sides of pastry. Microwave on high for 5 to 6 minutes or until dry and blistery. Turn dish 1/2 turn halfway through cooking. Cool on rack before filling.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
