APPLE DUMPLINGS 
2 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. shortening
1 c. milk
6 apples, pared and cored
sugar and cinnamon

Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening. Add and mix to smooth out dough. Turn onto floured board and divide into 6 portions. Roll each large enough to cover one apple. Place apple on each piece of dough. Fill with cinnamon and sugar. Wet edges of dough and fold over apple. Place on greased baking sheet and bake in moderate oven (300°F to 350°F) until apples are tender (about 1/2 hour).
