BROKEN GLASS CANDY | |
Powdered sugar 3 3/4 c. sugar 1 1/4 c. light syrup 1 c. water Food coloring 1 tsp. oil flavoring (available at pharmacy in flavors such as cinnamon, spearmint) Combine sugar, syrup and water in heavy saucepan and stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Continue to cook, without stiffing until syrup reaches 290 degrees on candy thermometer. Remove from heat and add food coloring and oil flavoring to desired intensity. Pour onto a well buttered, preferably Teflon cookie sheet. As soon as it's cool enough to handle, start cutting into small pieces, starting on outside and drop in powdered sugar. Stir occasionally. Sift off excess sugar. Makes 2 1/4 pounds. I use scissors to cut mine. |
