KING OF THE OATMEALS 
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. oatmeal
1 c. raisins or nuts

Sift dry ingredients together. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients, oatmeal and raisins. Shape into 2 rolls in wax paper and refrigerate about 3 hours. Slice 1/4" thick. Bake on greased cookie sheet for 8 to 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Makes 6 dozen.
