CREAM CHEESE BUTTER COOKIES | |
2 1/2 c. flour, sifted 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 1 c. butter 3 oz. cream cheese 1 c. sugar 1 egg yolk 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. grated orange rind Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift together already-sifted flour with salt and cinnamon and set aside. Cream butter and cream cheese together. Gradually add sugar and mix well. Beat in egg yolk, vanilla, and orange rind. Slowly blend in flour, salt, and cinnamon mixture. Dough will not need to be refrigerated unless the kitchen is very warm. If using a cookie cutter, dough should be rolled out on a floured board 1/4 inch thick. Use any size or shape cookie cutter, or any disc shape for cookie press. We have used a heart-shaped cutter. Using any type of cookie cutter or cookie press, form cookies on ungreased cookie sheet 1 inch apart. Bake 12-15 minutes. Remove from oven and transfer to wire rack to cool. Makes 48 cookies. |
