BROWN SUGAR POUND CAKE 
1 box light brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 1/2 c. shortening (1 c. Crisco, 1/2 c. butter)
5 egg yolks
3 c. plain or cake flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
1 c. chopped pecans
1 tsp. vanilla
5 egg whites (well beaten, fold in last)

Cream shortening and sugars. Add egg yolks and beat well. Sift together dry ingredients and add alternately with milk to batter. Add vanilla and nuts; mix well. Fold in egg whites. Bake about 1 1/2 hours in well greased tube pan at 325 degrees.

FROSTING:

8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1/2 lb. butter
1 box confectioners' sugar

Mix sugar, butter and cream cheese and beat until spreading consistency. If needed, add more butter. Fold in nuts and spread on cooled cake.
