BAKING POWDER BISCUITS | |
2 c. sifted all purpose flour (1 3/4 c. unsifted) 3 tsp. baking powder 3/4 tsp. salt 4 tbsp. shortening 2/3 c. milk Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. If you didn't sift, stir together lightly in the mixing bowl. Cut shortening into flour mixture with pastry blender, fork or 2 knives until the mixture looks like small grains. Add milk gradually, stirring lightly, to make a soft dough. Place dough on lightly floured board, roll lightly until coated enough to roll out 1/2 inch thick. Cut dough with biscuit cutter which has been dipped in flour. Place biscuits on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Serve hot. |
