PLAIN ROLL DOUGH "NO KNEADING" | |
1 pkg. active dry yeast 1/4 c. very warm water 1/4 c. sugar 1 slightly beaten egg 1/4 c. shortening 1 tsp. salt 1 c. scalded milk 3 1/2 c. sifted flour Soften active yeast in water, combine sugar, and salt; stir in hot milk cool to lukewarm; add egg and 2 cups flour, beat well; add remaining flour enough to make soft dough. Cover let rise 1 1/2 hours. Pinch down turn out on lightly floured surface. Shape into desired rolls. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Refrigerate dough for easier handling after rising. |
