BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
1 gallon cucumbers, sliced without peeling
8 onions
2 green peppers
2 pimientos
1/2 c. salt

Put on 1 quart cracked ice or cold water. Let set 3 hours. Drain.

SYRUP:

5 c. sugar
5 c. vinegar (less)
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
2 tbsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. celery seed

Scald cucumbers in syrup. Put in jars and seal. Makes 6 to 8 pints.
