2 c. butter
2 c. + 4 tbsp. granulated sugar
2 c. + 4 tbsp. brown sugar
4 eggs, beaten
2 tbsp. baking soda
4 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. salt
2 c. walnuts or pecans, chopped
2 c. raisins
3 lg. pkgs. chocolate bits
2 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and mix with sugars. Add eggs. Blend soda, flour and salt. Add several drops of water and mix with creamed butter mixture. Add the nuts and raisins stirring to mix. Add chocolate bits and vanilla; mix. Drop by 1/2 teaspoon onto greased sheets and bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
