BUTTERSCOTCH SQUARES
 
1/4 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. flour
3/4 c. shelled pecans (broken into pieces)
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar; add egg, and other ingredients. Pour into shallow buttered pan and bake in moderate oven until firm. Mark, while hot into squares. Yield 16 squares.
