GREAT GRANDMOTHER'S POUND CAKE | |
1 cup (2 sticks) butter 3 cups sugar 1/2 cup vegetable oil 1/4 tsp. salt 5 large, warm eggs 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour 1 (5 oz.) can evaporated milk plus water to make 1 cup 2 tbsp. vanilla butternut flavoring Cream butter, sugar, oil and salt. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add flour and milk in small quantities (alternate, flour, milk, flour, milk, etc.; end with flour). Fold flavoring in by hand. Grease baking pan, then dust with flour. Place cake in a cold oven and bake at 325°F for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Note: Do not open oven door while cake is baking! Once baked, remove from pan at once. Enjoy! Submitted by: Michelle Arnold |
