HAM RING - CHERRY SAUCE
1 lb. ground, uncooked smoked ham
1 lb. ground fresh pork
2 beaten eggs
1 1/2 c. wheat flakes
1/2 c. milk
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. prepared mustard
1/4 tsp. cloves (ground)

Combine first 5 ingredients; mix well. Pat into 1 1/2 quart ring mold or 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch loaf pan.

Combine remaining ingredients and spread on top. Bake at 350 degrees (1 hour for ring, 1 1/2 hours for loaf). Drain at once and invert on platter. Serve with Hot Cherry Sauce:

Drain one #2 can red, tart cherries, reserve liquid.

Mix: 2 tbsp. cornstarch 1/4 tsp. cloves

Gradually stir in liquid. Cook, stirring constantly until mixture boils and is thick. Add 1/4 teaspoon red food coloring and cherries. (6 to 8 servings)

Quick Cherry Sauce: Use #2 1/2 can cherry pie filling and add cloves and sugar to taste, then red food coloring. This avoids cooking the cornstarch!

This has been used for Altar Guild suppers several times. It was a Better Homes and Gardens recipe from years ago.
