I made a few changes though. I recently harvested apx 100 pounds of pineapple pears from a tree in my Granny's yard. I have been cooking pears for 10 days. I wanted something new.
In my first batch, I subbed one pear for one apple. Because I wanted to put this in jars, I added the cinnamon sticks with the sugar and water. Once boiling, I added the apples/pears, then when adding the cranberries I added the cloves. I allowed it to cook longer than the 7 minutes stirring and tasting (the tasting is the best part). I packed the hot mixture into hot sterilized jars and lids then hot bathed them for 12 minutes.
Every jar sealed and they look bee-utiful. I can't wait to give as gifts.
* for the second batch I added 2 pears and 1 apple.
Even if you don't put the relish in jars, this is a supper easy recipe and incredibly tasty.
