TOMATO APPLE RELISH | |
10 ripe tomatoes 1 c. chopped onion 1 1/2 c. vinegar 6 apples, peeled 2 c. sugar 1 tbsp. pickling whole spices Peel and cut tomatoes in small pieces; add onion. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup canning salt. Let stand overnight. Drain well, add chopped apples, sugar, vinegar and mixed whole pickling spices in cheese cloth pouch. Simmer about 1 hour, remove spices and seal in hot jars. |
