KRUG FAMILY HAMBURGER BARBECUE | |
2 lb. ground beef 2 stalks celery, chopped 2 medium onions, chopped 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste 2 (10 oz. ea.) cans condensed tomato soup 1 (10 oz.) bottle ketchup 2 1/2 oz. Worcestershire sauce 2 tbsp. vinegar 2 tbsp. mustard 1/2 tsp. hot sauce 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. chili powder dash pepper Cook hamburger until done. Remove from grease and place in 4-quart saucepan. Melt butter in skillet, sauté chopped celery until soft and lightly browned. Be careful not to burn. Remove cooked celery from melted butter and place with cooked hamburger. Sauté onions in butter until tender. Remove cooked onions from butter and place with cooked hamburger and celery. Add remaining ingredients and simmer over low-medium heat for about 30 minutes, stirring often, ensuring not to let stick. Serve hot on hamburger buns. Variation: Also makes great "pizzaburgers"... Use refrigerated biscuit dough (Pillsbury biscuits from a can..) -- spread out each biscuit on cookie sheet to form larger round. Spread barbecue sauce on top of biscuit dough, sprinkle with ground oregano and top with slice of American cheese. Bake at temperature and time on biscuit package... Top either with coleslaw for an extra crunch... Submitted by: Marie Violette |
