CHUNKY APPLES AND RAISINS | |
6 med. apples (Winesaps are best or 3 each Granny Smith and McIntosh) 1 1/2 c. water 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/2 c. raisins Combine water, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar in a saucepot and bring to a boil. Pare, core and slice apples. Add sliced apples to boiling water and simmer covered for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat, add raisins and stir to mash the apples. Cool in the pot; best after sitting overnight. Nice side dish to roast pork. |
