CINNAMON APPLE SALAD 
6 winesap apples, cored, peeled and cut in half
4 c. water
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. cinnamon red hot candy
2 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese (softened)
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1/4 c. dairy sour cream
1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice

Prepare apples, set aside. In large saucepan, mix water, sugar, cinnamon candy. Bring to boil, simmer 10 minutes. Lay apples in this mixture and simmer, basting frequently so apples will absorb color and flavor.

Simmer 10 or 15 minutes or until apples are cooked through but still retain their shape. Let cool in the syrup; remove and chill. Reserve syrup, mix cream cheese, 1/4 cup of the nuts, sour cream, and lemon juice until well blended.

Roll into 12 balls. Roll each ball in reserved nuts and place on each apple half. Simmer syrup that was left. Cool and spoon over each apple half. Serves 12. Recipe can be halved.
