FINGER APPLE PIE | |
2 1/2 c. sifted flour 1 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. sugar 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. shortening 1 egg yolk 1/2 c. milk 5 c. apples 1 c. sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 egg white, beaten stiff 1 c. powdered sugar 2 tbsp. lemon juice Mix together flour, salt and sugar; cut in butter and shortening. Beat together egg yolk and milk. Add to flour mixture, blend to make a soft dough. Divide into 2 balls. Roll 1/2 the dough to fit cookie sheet. Mix apples with sugar and cinnamon, spread on dough. Cover with remaining dough. Spread beaten egg white over dough before baking. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Mix powdered sugar and lemon juice, spread glaze over pie while hot. |
