6 to 7 med. potatoes, sliced
1 stick butter
1 pkg. dry onion soup mix

Grease a 9 x 13 casserole dish with vegetable shortening. Layer sliced potatoes in dish. Sprinkle dry onion soup mix over potatoes. Top with pats of butter. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 10 minutes longer.
