2 c. Crisco
3 c. sugar
2 tsp. salt
4 eggs
4 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. nutmeg
8 c. flour
2 c. buttermilk or soured milk

Cream sugar, Crisco and salt. Add eggs one at a time and beat well. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk and mix well. Drop on ungreased sheets then sprinkle with sugar. Bake 10 minutes at 375 degrees until golden brown. These cookies are nice served as shortcake with strawberries.
