SAVORY STUFFED ONIONS
6 lg. onions
4 slices bacon, chopped
1 apple, peeled, cored & chopped
3/4 c. herb seasoned stuffing mix
2 tbsp. chicken broth or water
1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
1/4 tsp. celery seed
1/4 tsp. dried savory, crushed

Peel onions. Cut a thin slice off bottom to make onions stand level. Cut a slice from top; hollow out onions, leaving about 1/4 inch thick shell. Chop centers and tops. Measure 1 1/2 cups; store remaining onion for another use.

In a 4 cup glass measure combine the 1 1/2 cups chopped onion, bacon and apple. Cover; cook in microwave on 100% power (high) for 5-7 minutes or until bacon is cooked, stirring once. Do not drain. Stir in remaining ingredients. Spoon mixture into onions. Place onions in a 12 x 7 1/2 x 2 inch baking dish. Cover with waxed paper. Microcook for 18-20 minutes until tender, giving dish a quarter turn 3 times. Let onions stand 5 minutes before serving. Makes 6 servings.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
