BLOND BROWNIES 
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
1/3 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
Chocolate chips

Sift flour, brown sugar, soda and salt together. Add nuts to dry ingredients. Melt butter and add sugar and 1 teaspoon hot water. Add flour, a small amount at a time, mixing well. Spread in a 9 x 9 x 2 pan which has been greased. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes. Test with toothpick for doneness.
