GERMAN CHEESE CAKE 
1 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 egg
Lemon rind
1 tsp. baking powder
1 stick butter

FILLING:

16 oz. cottage cheese
8 oz. sour cream
Lemon rind
1 c. sugar
4 eggs, separated
4 egg whites, beaten

Crust: mix together flour, sugar, lemon rind, and butter until it becomes coarse. Add egg and roll into ball. Filling: whip egg whites until stiff. Whip cottage cheese and sugar until creamy. Add the eggs, lemon rind and sour cream. Blend in the egg whites. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Butter and flour 9 inch round pan. Press crust into bottom of pan and on the sides (3/4 up). Pour in cottage cheese mixture and bake 45 minutes to 1 hour until golden brown.
