BLUE RIBBON JEWISH APPLE CAKE | |
2 1/2 c. sugar 5 tart apples, peeled and sliced 3 c. flour 3 tsp. baking powder 4 lg. eggs 1 c. Crisco oil 1/3 c. orange juice Cinnamon to taste In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, and 5 tart apples, peeled and sliced. Let set whole you mix up the cake. Heat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, mix all remaining ingredients except apple mixture. Mix by hand. The batter will be very thick. Grease and flour a tube or bundt pan. Put half of the apple mixture in the pan, then pour in half of the batter. Next, pour in the remaining apple mixture, then the rest of the batter. Bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean. The older this cake gets, the better its flavor. |
