MAMA'S CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1 1/2 sticks melted butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 3/4 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. self-rising flour

Cream sugar, eggs and butter; add flour, buttermilk and vanilla. Mix all together. For 18 layer cake, put 2 tablespoons of batter in pans and bake at 500°F for 5 minutes. For 12 layer cake, put 1/3 cup of batter in pans and bake at 375°F for about 10 minutes.

Mama's Chocolate Cake Icing:

3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. butter
1 c. coconut
1 1/3 c. canned milk

Mix all ingredients and cook 15 minutes. Icing is done when sugar has melted.
