GINGERSNAPS 
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 egg
2 tbsp. molasses
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt

Mix in order given. Make into small balls. Before baking, roll in granulated sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. These flatten out and get crisp.
