CHOP SUEY | |
1 1/2 lb. lean fresh pork, veal, chicken or a combination of these 1 bunch celery, chopped 3 lg. onions, chopped 2 bouillon cubes 1 1/2 c. warm water 2 tbsp. molasses 2 tbsp. cornstarch 1 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. soy sauce 3 shakes pepper 2 tbsp. sugar 1 can bean sprouts 1 can mixed vegetables 1 can sliced water chestnuts Rice or Chinese noodles Brown meat. Sift a little flour over the meat while it is in the pan to make it browned. Add chopped celery and onions. Cook until almost done. Combine bouillon cubes, warm water, molasses, cornstarch, salt, soy sauce, pepper and sugar. Pour over the meat and cook until tender. Just before serving, add 1 can bean sprouts, 1 can mixed vegetables and water chestnuts. For an extra nice dish, add mushrooms, stuffed olives, cashew nuts and pimentos just before serving. Serve with rice or Chinese noodles. |
