SPAGHETTI PIE | |
6 oz. spaghetti 2 tbsp. butter 2 eggs, beaten 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese (bulk) 1 lb. ground beef 1/4 c. green pepper, chopped 3/4 c. onion, chopped 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste 1 (8 oz.) can tomatoes, drained and cut up 1 tsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. garlic salt 1 tsp. dried oregano 1 c. cottage cheese 1/2 c. Mozzarella cheese, shredded Cook spaghetti and drain thoroughly. Mix butter, eggs and Parmesan cheese into hot spaghetti. In a buttered 10-inch pie plate, shape spaghetti into a crust, forming a nest-like shell. Brown the beef in a frying pan. Add the green pepper and onions. Cook for 3-5 minutes. Drain off fat. Add tomato paste, tomatoes, sugar, garlic salt and oregano. Mix all ingredients together and heat for a few minutes longer. Cover spaghetti crust with cottage cheese. Pour meat mixture over the cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Sprinkle Mozzarella cheese over the top and bake for 5 minutes more, allowing the cheese to melt. Serves 6. |
