APPLE DUMPLING
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
A few dashes of salt to taste
1/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. milk

SYRUP:

2 c. sugar
3/4 c. butter
2 c. water

Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Cut in shortening. Add milk. Mix ingredients of syrup together and bring to a boil. Peel and core about 8 to 9 apples. Roll dough out and use just enough to wrap each apple individually. This recipe will make about 8 to 9 dumplings. Place wrapped apples in a deep pan side by side. Pour syrup over dumplings and bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour. Fresh peaches make a good substitute for apples in the summer time.
