SPLIT PEA SOUP 
1 ham bone (leftovers)
3 c. green split peas
4 qt. water
1 c. chopped onion
1 c. chopped celery with leaves
2 c. diced carrots
Sm. clove garlic, minced
1 bay leaf
Salt and pepper to taste

Simmer ham bone with peas in water for 2 hours. Add remaining ingredients. Continue to cook for about 1 hour. Makes about 2 1/2 quarts.
