OLD FASHIONED ORANGE CAKE 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. baking soda in milk
2 tbsp. grated orange rind
4 eggs
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream shortening and sugar. Add 1 egg, little milk and flour; beat well. Repeat until eggs, milk and flour are used. Pour into well greased tube cake pan and bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.

ICING:

While cake is baking add 2 cups sugar to 1 cup orange juice and 3 tablespoons grated orange peel. Let set when mixed thoroughly. When cake is baked, remove from pan and while still hot, take spoon and pour icing over hot cake until all is absorbed. The cake is much better when baked a day or two ahead.
