CHOCOLATE CRINKLES (COOKIES) 
1/2 c. shortening
1 2/3 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 (1 oz.) sqs. unsweetened chocolate, melted
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. milk
1/2 c. chopped walnuts (optional)

Cream shortening, sugar, and vanilla thoroughly. Beat in eggs, then chocolate. Add dry ingredients together to creamed mixture alternately with milk, blending well after each addition. Stir in nuts. Chill 2-3 hours. Form into 1 inch balls. Roll in confectioners' sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet 2 to 3 inches apart Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from pan. Makes about 4 dozen.
