TART APPLE CRISP 
5 1/2 c. apples, sliced (Ida red or slightly tart apples)
1/4 c. water
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. flour
1/2 c. butter

Put sliced apples in shallow 2 quart baking dish. Add water. Combine dry ingredients and cut in butter with pastry blender. Spoon evenly over apples.

Cover and bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees, then uncover and bake 30 minutes longer.
