1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1 egg, separated
1 c. thick sour cream
1/4 c. sweet milk
3 tbsp. melted butter

Sift together flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Combine well beaten egg yolk, sour cream, milk and butter. Add to dry ingredients. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in waffle iron.

To make waffles with buttermilk, use the following:

3/4 c. buttermilk instead of sweet milk
1/4 c. salad oil instead of sour cream
3 tbsp. salad oil instead of melted butter
2 eggs, no need to separate

Mix all ingredients at once in electric mixer.
