AUNT KATE'S OVERNIGHT BUNS | |
2 c. boiling water 3/4 c. sugar 1/2 c. shortening 1 tsp. salt When cooled to warm, add 2 beaten eggs. Add only 1/2 package yeast dissolved in 2 tablespoons warm water. Then stir in approximately 7 cups flour. Mix well and knead about 5 minutes. Put in greased bowl and cover. Put in warm place to rise. Punch down occasionally, perhaps 2 or 3 times. About 9 p.m. make into 45 buns, using 3 (9 x 13 inch) pans, 15 buns in each. Put in cold place (basement or refrigerator) until morning. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. I find it takes about 4 hours out of the refrigerator for buns to rise before baking. |
