GRANDMA'S BEEF STEW 
2 lb. beef stew meat, cut into 1 1/2" cubes
1 med. onion, sliced diagonally
2 stalks celery, chopped
6 carrots, pared & cut into chunks
1/2 c. tomato juice
Mix together: 2 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. sugar 2 tbsp. tapioca

Brown meat in a large skillet or oven proof pot (with or without 1 tablespoon butter). Add the vegetables and slightly cook. Sprinkle salt, sugar and tapioca mixture over everything. Add tomato juice. Cover and seal tight. Bake at 250 degrees for 4 hours. Serves 4-6. Can also be cooked in a crock pot.
