GRANDMA'S BAKING POWDER BISCUITS | |
2 c. flour 1/4 c. lard or shortening 1 tbsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. milk Mix flour, salt and baking powder. Work in lard with finger tips or pastry blender until crumbly. Make a well in center and pour in milk. Stir with fork until all flour disappears. Knead lightly on a floured surface for a minute or two. Roll dough to 1/2 inch thick. Using a floured glass with about a 3 inch opening, cut the dough. Place on a cookie sheet. Let set for several minutes. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 12-18 biscuits. |
