TACO CASSEROLE 
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 tsp. garlic salt (powder)
1 (9 1/2 oz.) bag (6) c. corn chips
4 or 5 slices American cheese
2 c. shredded lettuce
Homemade taco sauce
White pepper and salt

Cook ground beef until browned. Drain off excess fat. Stir in garlic salt. Coarsely crush corn chips, place in an 8 x 8 x 2 inch baking dish or pan. Spoon hot meat over corn chips, top with cheese. Bake in 350 degree oven 10 to 12 minutes or until cheese melts. Sprinkle with shredded lettuce, spoon on homemade taco sauce.

Homemade taco sauce: In bowl stir together one 16 oz. can stewed tomatoes, undrained; 1 teaspoon sugar, 3/4 teaspoon oregano, 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce; 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon bottled hot pepper sauce and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Using edge of spoon break up large tomatoes. Stir in 1/4 cup chopped green pepper and 1/4 cup chopped onion.
