DIVINITY CANDY 
4 c. sugar
1 c. white syrup
3/4 c. water
3 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla
Nuts

Put sugar, syrup and water in large heavy pot. Boil until a soft ball forms in cold water.

Meanwhile, beat egg whites until they stand in peaks. Pour 5 tablespoons of hot syrup into beaten egg whites one at a time, beating all the time.

Return remaining syrup to stove and boil until a hard ball forms. Add slowly to egg whites and beat until stiff. Add vanilla and nuts and pour into buttered pan.
