DIVINITY CANDY 
PART I:

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
3 egg whites
1 or 2 tsp. vanilla

Boil sugar and water to a soft ball stage then drizzle over the 3 stiffly beaten egg whites, beating all the while. Beat in vanilla. Beat until almost cool.

PART II:

3 c. sugar
1 c. white Karo syrup
1 c. water
Chopped nuts

Boil sugar, water and Karo together until it comes to crack stage (by thermometer or when 1 teaspoon is dropped into ice water). Pour this over Part I a little at a time and keep beating until it is fluff]y and stiff. Add nuts. Pour into a buttered Pyrex dish and cool until soft and firm.
