OATMEAL-CHOCOLATE CHIP OR RAISIN
COOKIES
 
2 c. soft butter
2 c. sugar
2 c. brown sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
5 c. oatmeal
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
24 oz. chocolate chips or 3 c. raisins

Cream butter. Add sugars, beating well. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix in oatmeal, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir in either chocolate chips or raisins. Roll into balls slightly smaller than golf balls and bake on an ungreased baking sheet 2 inches apart at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Shorter baking times (10-13 minutes) will result in a chewy cookie. Yield: 7-8 dozen.
