CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1 1/8 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (8 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped (optional)

Sift flour, baking soda and salt together. Cream butter and sugar together. Add egg and vanilla. Blend thoroughly and add sifted ingredients. Add chocolate chips. Fold in nuts and drop from a teaspoon onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 350°F for about 10 minutes.

Makes 50 cookies.
